After long weeks of waiting, the time has come for all mobile fans. The Mobile World Congress 2017 will start this week-end in Barcelona. It is the 30th edition of this congress. Even if Samsung won’t unveil its much-awaited Galaxy S8 during this Mobile World Congress edition, there are more exciting devices which will be announced by the other manufacturers.
The schedule for the conferences of the main manufacturers is presented below. Note that the event starting time is the time in Barcelona.

So, what phones to expect from these manufacturers ?
Usually, Samsung is always the star of the Mobile World Congress. But, this year it could be a little bit different because the Galaxy S8 won’t be shown in Barcelona as Samsung recently confirmed. The main reason is that the company wants to take its time and make sure its new flagship is built to the highest safety standards. The Galaxy Note 7 fiasco is still in the heads. So, Samsung must be very prudent.
Instead of the Galaxy S8, which will be unveiled in late March or early April, Samsung should announce a new tablet the Galaxy Tab S3. It is also possible that Galaxy phones with flexible screens be shown. Finally, there are good chances that the new entry-level (Galaxy J) and mid-range phones (Galaxy A) of Samsung be on display during the MWC.
This year, the LG’s press conference could be the top event of the MWC with the announcement of the successor to the LG G5. This successor should be named LG G6. The phone should have an aspect ratio of 2:1 for improved multitasking. The LG G6 is announced to be waterproof too.
LG has made official its two new smartwatches : the LG Watch Style and the LG Watch Sport. Both will be running Android Wear 2.0 out of the box and should be presented during the Congress.
No other new hardware should be announced by LG during the MWC.
The Huawei P10 is expected to be announced during the MWC this year. It will be the successor of the P9 and will likely improve it with more features and images of better quality. The dual camera setup will be always there.
In addition, Huawei could present a new smartwatch which will be one of the first wearables running Android Wear 2.0.
HMD Global will be present during the Mobile World Congress to announce at least one new Nokia Phone running Android Nougat. Some rumors have announced this flagship phone could be powered by a Snapdragon 835. These rumors, however, are in contradiction with recent claims that no Snapdragon 835 phones are to be announced at the show.
The company has recently launched the Nokia 6 in China and it is a big success. HMD Global plans to launch a lot of others Nokia-branded phones. During the MWC 2017, some rumors say that HMD could unveil a tablet with a 18-inch screen !
Finally, a modern version of the famous Nokia 3310 could draw a lot of attention during the MWC and be one of the stars of the conference.
Some rumors told that Sony may announce some new phones, including a Snapdragon 835-powered monster packing a 4K display. No more details for the moment. A successor to the mid-rang Xpera XA is also expected.
HTC continues to have difficult years and the expectations concerning the manufacturer are less big than previously. This year, the company won’t make a dedicated conference during the MWC !
Moto / Lenovo
New Moto phones will be announced during the MWC this year. It’s pretty clear that the Moto G5 and G5 Plus are coming. Both were leaked in detail recently and the conference will let us to confirm these leaks.
Some rumors announce also that Lenovo could launch some new hardware.
TCL Communications will let to the BlackBerry brand to be present at the MWC this year. The BlackBerry Mercury will be unveiled tomorrow. The phone was already present during the CES 2017 but this time all the details concerning the phone will be unveiled.
Some rumors announce that Alcatel could present several phones this year during the MWC. It is also confirmed that Alcatel should make its entry into the modular design territory.
